Hewlett Packard has expanded its HP Total Care portfolio in an effort to help small and mid-size business while reducing its carbon footprint and the Village of Suffern will be one of the program's beneficiaries.

HP's Eco Solutions team set up shop at the Lafayette Theater on Nov. 9 to introduce its new eco friendly products and to announce that the Village of Suffern and the Town of Ramapo will participate in a community-wide environmental initiative. The initiative is designed to reduce energy consumption by 60 percent, the carbon footprint by 41 percent, paper use by up to 37 percent and energy and paper costs by up to 38 percent.

As part of the program, displays at the Lafayette included works by local artists and photographers. Some of the photos displayed were enlarged to eight by 11 feet and suspended from the theater's private boxes. HP is also sponsoring an Art Walk in the Village. Works from local artists and photographers will be displayed in 22 storefronts along Lafayette Avenue this month.

"They really came to town and put on a great show and demonstrated a great commitment to the Village and it's small business," said Richard Gandon, owner of InterNetwork Media, LLC.

Photos taken by Gandon will be on display at NY No. 1 Chinese Food and The Eagle Superstore. Others who will have works displayed include Vince Crapella, owner of Chazz Hair Salon, Mike Malandra, owner of Malandra Martial Arts and Village residents George Audisio, Harry Goldenberg and Carole Friedman.

Each of the works of art, while created by the artists, was blown up and displayed by HP, King Displays and ASI Systems.
